Are there exemptions specifically for nonprofit organizations that serve persons with disabilities?

Yes. Louisiana provides specific sales and use tax exemptions for certain nonprofits organizations that employ or provide employment training to persons with disabilities or workplace disadvantages.

For example, a nonprofit organization that sells donated goods and spends 75% or more of its revenue on directly employing or training persons with disabilities or workplace advantages may qualify for an exemption from sales and use taxes. See La. R.S. 47:305.16. You may refer to the chart here to see if your nonprofit organization is listed.
